Gram panchayat land (urgent query)

Greetings,

I currently possess a land(no NA layout) which is under Gram Panchayat.I pay my taxes every year. Off late, i have been hearing news that if the land comes under the scanner of city corporation then they will acquire it as I haven't built anything on that piece of land. Please, tell me if its true or not. If it is true, then what should I do to protect it from being acquired by the city corporation ?

You want to know theveracity of a rumour. Go to relevant office andinquiry or meet astrologer with authentic horoscope.

If the corporation want to acquire the land then there is least you can do. Even the lawful owners are not able to resist.

Thank you Mr.Makkad for a prompt and sensible reply unlike Mr.Kumar. Now just to clear one more thing , one of my friend told me that I'll hv to fence the land and put up a board saying that the piece of land belongs to me. Will that help ?

AND START USING FOR THE PURPOSE IT WAS ALLOTTED. GROW TREE/ BUILT SMALL FARM HOUSE IF AGRI LAND.

You have not mentioned how city corporation is linked with the gram panchayat, whether the village is an urban village under the jurisdiction of the city corporation?

Mr.Dhingra : The land is an agri land which i had purchased from a farmer as he was selling it out for. I had purchased it almost 8 years back. It is close to the city limits .Now the city is under expansion phase. Hence , the question holds its validity .

If mutation is already in your name in the revenue records, even if the land is decided to be acquired that will have to be done by notification through local as well as prominent newspapers after due approval of the Governer of the State, where you will have the chance to file an objection against the acquisition. But, after notification, you would not be able to dispose of your land by sale, etc., until your land is spared after taking in to consideration of your objection.

So, at first you may get properly updated from the office of the corporation or the District Collector, if there is any proposal to acquire any land and whether that part includes piece of your land also or not. If not, you need no worry. But, if there is any proposal and no notification has yet been issued, better try to sell the said piece of land.
