is there any time limit for continuation of employment in order to get benefit of ESI for e.g if an employee covers a minimum period of 1 year in employment then he is eligible for ESI

Any employee drawing monthly pay of Rs.15000- or less and employed in any factory employing 10 or more persons or other establishments like sops, hotels,restaurants,cinemas etc employing 20 or more persons are covered by the ESI scheme. Length of service of the employee is not material.

Such person is entitled to avail this benefit even on a single day of service if his salary is below Rs. 15,000/- PM.

If Ur employed in a covered establishment for a continuous period exceeding 30 days, ur name will be recorded as a member with the local ESI authority and necessary card can be generated online by ur employers for getting ESI benefits.
