Meaning of "gair mumkin abadi"

(Querist) 03 April 2013 This query is : Resolved
Can you please tell me what "gair mumkin abadi" land means. I'm considering buying a plot but it is under a khasra which is partly "gair mumkin abadi" & partly "barani". Is it legally allowed to buy this land for residential purpose? Land use has been changed to non-agricultural subsequently.

Thank you so much for your responses Mr Barman and Mr Nanda.

Given that there are doubts regarding this land use categorization I've decided to just go ahead & ask the developer to provide an alternative plot that is classed as "avasiya prayojanarth", which would clearly indicate that it's for residential purpose. (The plot is in Rajasthan)

Gair Mumkin Abadi deh aur abadi has same meaning. This land is already meant for the residential purpose but whose record remains with the revenue authorities. In Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi & Himachal Pradesh, the same language is used in revenue record.

THE WORD abadi does mean residential non agricultural land and can rightfully be used for "avasiya prayojanarth".It is just the matter of language. All terms are synonymous.
Nisha (Querist) 04 April 2013
Thank you Mr Makkad & Mr Singh for your replies. The developer is also giving me contrary answers on this question so irrespective of the legal position I've decided to look at other available plots more clearly classified to not take any chance.
