Sir, My father was retired in Dec 2012 from State Transport Dept. Till now, the dept. has not released the GPF. My may family was a poor family and need of money. Any time limit is there to release GPF or the govt. can take their own time for release of GPF. please advice.

You can file Writ petition in high court for its early disbursal.

You have not stated whether he applied for final withdrawal of GPF on a prescribed form on retirement or not.

If your father had applied for those benefits then he is required to serve a legal notice failing which either to file civil suit or a writ petition.

before agreeing or disagreeing with above view I would request to elaborate:-
(i) whether he was GPF subscriber or EPF subscriber.
(ii)whether he applied for PF withdrawal
(iii)whether he contacted deptt
(iv) what reasons have been stated by deptt (written or oral).

Dear Sudhir,
I really wonder on your insistence for clarification! When twice he has mentioned very clearly, "General Providend Fund" in the topic, itself and "GPF" in the text of his query, what more clarification you want? Moreover, he has mentioned "State Transport DEPARTMENT", whic is a Government department. He has not mentione anywhere that as state transport corporation.
