Hello,
I am the defendant in a civil suit for permanent injunction in a lower court of Delhi. As my financial condition is not very sound, so I was hiring the lawyer on date-to-date basis. Till now for 3 dates I have had the same lawyer. Now the next date is due tomorrow where I was supposed to file a reply but I am not in a condition to pay any fee to my lawyer and the condition will be somewhat similar in near future. So, what options I am left with since the lawyer has denied to appear for I couldn't make his earlier payments in a timely fashion? Can I appear in person in court tomorrow and tell the judge about the situation and that I be given a public lawyer? Is that possible, if yes then how?
Please suggest!
Thanks!

Thanks a lot Sir, that came as a big relief!
And, if I may ask... what would be the criterion to decide the merit for me to be given a public lawyer... and is it possible that the judge declines my request?

If you have no economic sources right now, do pray to the court to provide you free legal aid.

Right from District Court to High Court and Supreme courts- Legal Aid Authorities are ATTACHED TO Each court who've some eminent advocates on their panels. You approach the concerned authority(legal) attached to your court and seek their help, who may not charge you any thing at all. Other option would be permission to sue in-forma pauparis or sue as an indigent person. File a pauper suit/right to get defended without paying any court or other litigation costs and the court would provide you an Amicus Curae/Assistant of the court at no cost. and you require permission of the court for this purpose. If you wish to thank me for this reply please click the thank you button on my profile.
