Just read Mr.Sureshbabu's article, wherein it has been suggested
"A official circular should be issued to all police stations directing the personnel to give due respect to the Advocates who come to police station for professional work."
1. What kind of work an Advocate could have at a Police Station?
2. Here, in our State Punjab, we Advocate never go to police Station. It is the duty of the client to provide to the Advocate copy of FIR or other documents.

Please Excuse Me for Answering. If an advocate is really interested to help or save his client there is no harm in going to police station. The above order clearly confirms that advocate them selves do not get due respect in police station and what would be the fate of accused or his people who approach for FIR or for any other purposes. There are many incidents where accused dies in custody at police station. An advocate visit could avoid this also. Many cases police used to detain people for harassment with out filing FIR In sush cases the visit of advocate to police station is must. The author's statement that Punjab Advocate do not go to Police Station is not justifiable.

In many of the police stations, human rights are violated. If the party is accompanied by an Advocate, his legal rights will be protected.
There is nothing wrong if an advocate visits a police station along with his party or alone, after all he is doing his duty, to protect his client.

There is no rule barring an advocate visiting a police station. If the Punjab advocates decided to not to visit a police station, their situation would be different, but I have my own doubt that whether the entire advocate brethren of Punjab would have resolved to not to visit police station, I think the author is ill informed on this subject. Professionally, advocate's visit to a police station in the interest of his client is a good sign and justifiable.

An Advocate for the interest of his client can visit Police Station or before any other administrative authority. I EXPERIENCED up to my 40 years of age that the behavior of the police personnel to me was always amniable and co-operating although it may be the cause behind that I WAS CONDUCTING SERVICE CASES OF POLICE OFFICERS for a long time in the Calcutta High Court with repute and sometimes stood as Additional Counsel with the Government Pleader in the Sessions Court.
