Respected Sir's,
Please advise that one of my friend had been arrested in domestic violence case and his mom had kept the surety of Rs 10k in the form of FD. thereafter the matter was withdrawn by the complainant. and later the said FD was collected by my friend's advocate. now my friend is demanding the said FD (original) from his advocate but he says he have lost it and he is not responding in good tone. now please advise how to get the FD amount release from the bank? thanks.

Ask the bank for duplicate FD after reporting loss to police.

The Bank would issue duplicate FD on receipt of request and indemnity Bond. The deposit receipt is non transferable / not negotiable hence most of the Banks do not insist for the copy of police complaint.
Fix deposit receipt is receipt and not the negotiable instrument.

furnish indemnity bond to bank for issue of duplicate FD
You can certainly obtain duplicate FDR from bank as per procedure laid down by RBI……………and maintained by bank on its website and certified copy of printed version of which is to be supplied to you without any cost by BM.
The BM may agree therefore you may write in your letter to BM that Advocate has collected from court and has lost it.
