How serious court take false written statement by wife's relatives ?

(Querist) 03 August 2014 This query is : Resolved
FIR done.
AB obtained.
Charge sheet awaiting for 498a and 406. DV is going on.

Recently i came to know that 4 relatives of my in-laws side have submitted false written statement to police saying "me and my family members are torturing her (my wife) and they requested us not to harass her but we continued". But truth is i dont even know them.

My questions :
How seriously court will take their statement ?
If any of them comes as a witness in court how negative it will go against me ?

thanks

All depends upon your advocate. Leave it to him, he will tackle the issue during the crossing.

statement made by your inlaws relatives have to be proved
P. Venu (Expert) 03 August 2014
If the statement is false, you can contradict the same by cross examining them as well by adducing additional evidence.

Do these relatives of my in-laws have to prove their written statements ? For eg do they have to prove that they met us on that particular date they have mentioned.
P. Venu (Expert) 03 August 2014
What you are referring to are not written statements, but statements recorded by the police. It is of no value unless those persons appear on the witness box and depose.
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 05 August 2014
You can cross the witness while deposing before the court. Agree with the expert P. Venu.
