If you are inherited to the property of your father, you are liable for the loan to the extent of the value of the property.
Shekhar (Querist) 06 October 2014
No I am inherited to the property since we didn't had any property or land of our own
Anirudh (Expert) 06 October 2014
Where was your father working?

Has he got any money from that organization after his death? like Death Cum Retirement Gratuity, Leave Encashment etc?

Did he leave any bank balance in any other bank / Post Office / Fixed Deposits etc?
Shekhar (Querist) 06 October 2014
No bank balance,he was a govt employee all his retrial benefits has gone to repayment of his debts
Guest (Expert) 06 October 2014
You are not Legally bound even to answer them.Do not have any Correspondence with them.If they misbehave or threaten file a police Complaint.
Shekhar (Querist) 06 October 2014

Meet your Local Advocate.
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 06 October 2014
The debt is time barred by limitation. You should not sign any acknowledgement. Consult a local lawyer.
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 06 October 2014
You can inform them that you are not liable to pay the debts. Even after this if they harass you, you can ask that credit card company to issue a notice to you and reply them through your advocate.
Guest (Expert) 06 October 2014
@ Author Do Not Ask for any Notice which would Trap You.
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 07 October 2014
Agreed with experts above.

Meet a lawyer immediately.

The debit is time barred and no case can be filed.

Any foolish reply from you can revive the limitation and also create liability.

You just have to maintain the safety provided by time.
Shekhar (Querist) 07 October 2014
So what should I do
Guest (Expert) 07 October 2014
Just Ignore and Say you are In No Way Connected in this and if they misbehave file a police complaint.Handle it carefully and do not get your self involved in this matter.
ajay sethi (Expert) 07 October 2014
refuse to make payment . since you have not inherited any property you are not liable for your father debts . claim of bank would be barred by limitation
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 08 October 2014
The sole issue is the alleged debt has already become time barred hence has no right to recover the same legally hence refuse to sign any paper and let the bank initiate legal action against you.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 11 October 2014
The bankers are trying to drag in the net so that the dead issue may be given life, they knew that it is barred by limitation, but based on your reply, they may bring back the limitation, hence ignore it or refuse paying anything, let them go ahead legally.
