Advice on defamation

Sir/Madam I visit a gym every evening and one female member of the gym tried to assasinate my character by shouting and linking me with another member of the gym. She passed some remarks at large to all the members. What kind of action can I take against that woman and the gym as the gym officials did not stop her . In fact the manager also got involved with her.
Kindly advise on the matter. She has spoilt my reputation.

The question is, whether alleged incident amounts to defamation and you have competent evidence to prove the same. In this context, evidence from members of the gym could be material. Are they willing to testify in court?

issue legal notice to stop such thing and if such thing is not stop, then you can lodge fir u/s 499 IPC.

You are silent as to why you have beocme her target.
In ant case you can file case defamation against them.

Legal action would be time and cost consuming with no confirmation of positive results. If the remarks can be avoided, avoid. Changing your time of Jim or Jim itself is other option.

ignore said lady . in future when she passes these remarks record the conversation . it can be used as evidence to file case against her .

You may verbally warn the manager of the gym to refrain himself from indulging in such activities defaming your name and reputation and also to instruct the other person desist from passing such lewd remarks on you inside the gym, if they do not listen to your verbal warnings, you have option to either served them with legal notices or to shift the gym itself for another gym. By initiating legal actions, your character is likely to be more assassinated or you may get the desired relief, decide about taking chances.
