One of my friends has purchased some shares from a company called "southern spice" long time ago. It has come to my knowledge that this company doesn’t exist now. Is this true? What if the company has winded up their business can he claim his share back ?

This is the legal forum and not business or stock exchange. Inquire this from Stock Exchange.

Dear Mr...
your friend should have been careful and cautious enough towards his investments. at the time of winding up, he should have laid his claim which would have been satisfied by the liquidator.
You would have been given due notice..
now no claim can be laid.

if you want to know about the existence of the company, please check up with the registrar where the company had its registered place of business.
