I want to give a power of attorney in favour of my son who is 20 years old to dispose of a property.
Shall I give a General Power of Attorney or Specific Power of ATTORNEY?
Is it valid through out India?

For sale of property you have to execute special power of attorney ( registered ) in favour of your son.

If you want to appoint any person (here your son) as your agent to act on behalf of you to deal with the property, other than sale, you can execute a specific power of attorney.
In case, agency is for activities which can encumber the propertyincluding sales, you have to execute General Power of Attorney.
In the present case, you have to execute General Power of Attorney only.
This is valid throughout India. However, Registration office depends on the territory of the property.

I am confused by contradictory statements here. For sale of my property, do I have to do
(1) Special Power of Attorney? OR
(2) General Power of Attorney?

Why can't you directly execute the sale deed and want your son to act on your behalf as an attorney?
