My fathers and mothers name in my birth certificate from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corpaoration(Ward A) is wrongly stated. Instead of my fathers and mothers name, my uncles and aunts name is stated. I would like to change the mothers and fathers name in my birth certificate. How do I do it. Since my birth certificate is not in place, I cant get a passport. My date of birth is in july,1989. Please help at the earliest.

make a written request for the change to the corporation.
usually they register based on the communication they receive from the hospital at the time of birth.
hospitals record these information from the bystanders on a routine style. it might have happened due to some misunderstanding in the communication.
if you could get the details corrected from the hospital and communicated to the corporation,they may correct the same.
other experts may comment any other methods.

You produce the hospital records and other school records to show the mistake.
The corporation will rectify its mistake and will issue new birth certificate.

move an appropriate application before the concerned authority, you ll have to visit the municipal office at your own to know their requirements.

Yes. You have to move a rectification application before the BMC duly supported by affidavits of your uncle and aunt stating that their names are mentioned as father and mother wrongly and mentioning the correct names of your parents. Your parents affidavits also on similar lines should be filed. BMC will correct the record and issue an order of rectification and revised birth certificate.
