I request the name of a lawyer who can defend my husband in a drunk driving case in Bangalore court on Monday 9th Nov. He was given a challan and his license and RC book was taken away after a breathalyzer test. We didn't believe the police and immediately went for a blood test and his blood alcohol was only 7 mg/100 ml. I need a lawyer to contest the case on Monday morning. We live in the Sarjapur Road area. Please help.

I would suggest just Pay the Fine and Solve it Amicably. You Should Thank God for Your Husband being Safe and Should advise him Not to Drink and Drive.Let him Take it as a Lesson for his Good .

You can visit the court and engage some lawyer.
Case may take 3-5 years till decision. Your husband has to appear in court for each hearing.
If the matter is finished after payment of fine, pay the same and get rid of it.

Thank you for all your responses. We are not the sort of family who drinks and drives and we are also not the sort of family who will accept the fine just to "settle a matter" when we are not guilty. We have the experience of taking one of the biggest institutions of this country to court when we had everything to lose. It takes more than a bogus drunk driving case to scare us.
I find it offensive when one of the persons above has said that I should advise my husband to not drink and drive. Perhaps he could give advice to the police to use equipment that actually works. And I also refer him to the similar false charge made against a software engineer last year in pretty much the same locality. Fortunately, we have already found a lawyer who has given us much more sensible advice. And it is incorrect to say that my husband has to appear in court for each hearing. He doesn't.
Thanks again. Given what I have heard here, it is doubtful I will come back here for any advice or information ever again. I am going to delete my account right away, if that is even possible in this weird forum.
