Notary

(Querist) 27 August 2010 This query is : Resolved 
I have 10 years of standing and not actually practicing as an advocate. To become a notary is 10 years of actual practice necessary or just 10 years standing from the date of enrolment is sufficient.

No persons shall be eligible for appointment as notary unless on the date of the application for such appointment-


(a) he had been practicing at least for ten years as a legal practitioner

Enrolment date is reckoned for the purpose of calculating years of practice. Therefore you can try.

You you are able to produce practice certificate from local BAR association, then your practise will be calculated from the date of enrollment
