Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 02 November 2010 This query is : Resolved
hi my name is jamse and i converted to hindu for marrying a hindu in arya samaj becoz it was needed to get married there. we married 1 year ago. and now both my wife and i want to get converted to christian.
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 02 November 2010
You can get converted to Christianity. Approach the Church and do the formalities. But remember, your marriage would still be governed under Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 since you both were hindus when your marriage was solemnised.

You can keep changing the religions in our Democracy India as per your whims and fancies. It does not depend upon or require any faith in them on your part. It is purely a mechanical process depending upon the benefit that you derive. Once you renounce Hinduism none of the laws applicable to Hindus will apply to you. Renouncement of Hinduism legally creates such a disqualification which expressly set out in all the statutes on Hindu Laws. On this point I am constrained to disagree with Mr.Ramachandran with very great respect.

i agree with Mr. Ramachandran.

I stand corrected. I agree with the views of Mr. Subramanian.

Go ahead full steam. Where is the problem?
Kirti Kar Tripathi (Expert) 02 November 2010
no problem in conversion but real problems will arise afterward.
