If some has threat to his life, how can one take preventive action..

He can lodgge complaint in the police station to set the law in motion. If the Police remains idle then interention of the Magistrate could be sought for.

lodge a complaint before the police for the threatening to life and also file an application under section 107 cr.p.c before the concerned magistrate.
