Pur Agri Land by non-agri in T.N.

I intend to purchase a 2 acre plot of agricultural land in TN. I am a non-agriculturist. Can I legally purchase this land ? If yes, can I use the land to construct 3-4 residential dwellings for myself, my close family members and friends? What are the formalities to be completed for change of land use in such a situation.

You can purchase but change of land use is required to fulfil your dreams. You shall have to make an application to local collector where the proposed land is situated enclosed with land record, proposed map and requisite fee. On enquiry, if the contents are found fit then application shall be forwarded to Director Land Revenue for his final order.
