Conveyance deed

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 24 November 2011 This query is : Resolved
What is difference between conveyance deed and registry.

Is stamp duty paid with conveyance deed or with registry.

Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 25 November 2011
registry/registration refers to any list maintained by a government to reflect ownership, usualy of personal property. A deed is a warranty of ownership that a former owner of real estate (land) delivers to the new owner, upon purchase and sale of land, to assure the new owner that he is the true owner. To give notice to the rest of the world that nobody else has a right to transfer ownership of the property to anybody else, the deed must be recorded.

The term "Registrtry" is actually ambiguous, since you cannot tell what is being registered. But in the case of a "deed", it refers exclusively to real estate.
