THE BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA (BCI), WHICH GOVERNS STANDARDS OF LEGAL EDUCATION IN INDIA, INTRODUCED A 20 YEARS AGE LIMIT FOR THE FIVE-YEAR LLB COURSE AND A 30 YEARS AGE BAR FOR THE THREE-YEAR LLB COURSE

stay granted by the Andhra Pradesh High Court on the new age limits for admissions to LLB courses.

Thanks Mr Sheikh & Mr Ajay for replying.
Yes I hold doctorate (PhD) in Music from Delhi University.........
So what I understand is that stay has been granted by Andhra High Court so the status remains same as earlier that there is no age bar. But is this case pending in Supreme court as well? Do we have any decision from the supreme court so far?
Ps enlighten me on this......

Dear Experts.

It is thankful that you taken pain and expressed your views but being professionels and the query is touching the decision for whole life we should be sure as well as our opinion should be supported with some citation, case law or section of ACT / RULE / ORDINANCE.

The age restriction of 30 years for admission into 3 year LL.B. Course, as per BCI Rules has been stayed only by some High Courts. Therefore, only in those States, the said restriction is not being imposed.

However, there are other States like Tamilnadu, where there is no such stay by the HC. consequently, in States like Tamil Nadu, the Age restriction applies.

Therefore, one has to know/ascertain from the university where they propose to pursue the course, whether any age restriction applies or not. This will be indicated in the prospectus itself.
