Forcing for witnessing

Dear Sir,
My friend had been to Lakshdeep as Tourist, where some officers of Navy started hooting on near by passing group of girls. Theses girls launched a FIR against the Navy officials and gave my freind's name as witness in FIR and received my mobile no. from the hotel in which he had stayed. Now both the parties to dispute calling him on his mobile to witness the case in Lakshdeep.My query is that whether I can be forced to witness, if yes than is there any escape for traveling to Lakshdeep again and again to witness such case. Pls reply urgently my friend is in deep mental agony?

Immediately you need not travel. However of the case is tried then you will have to depose in court as witness. otherwise W/A may be issued against you.

If the case has been fixed for the evidence stage then your friend needs to go directly to the court and not to either of the parties but only subject to he receives specific notice from the court directing him to appear in the court on a particular day.
There is nothing due to which your friend may feel such mental agony.
