Suit for defamation

A person filed a fake criminal case against me and my colleague lady advocate which was dismissed by CJM Court. He prefers revision of the case in district court and again the case was dismissed. In this case, he puts a fake allegation that I had illicit relations with the lady advocate. Whether a suit for defamation may be filed by me? Whether it will be a criminal case or a civil case?

you can file civil suit for damages . in addition if you so desire file criminal complaint of defamation
