Contract

(Querist) 09 March 2014 This query is : Resolved
Sir,
Want to know if a blind person can enter into an contract. He can also avoid the contract later saying tht he is blind n tht he did not understand the contract. What type of evidence is required to legally bind them?
Dr J C Vashista (Expert) 10 March 2014
The acceptor of an agreeement/contract is required to be explained the contents.
P. Venu (Expert) 10 March 2014
Why not?

It is only that the consent of such person should be an informed one.

Contract need not be written. Oral contract is also valid. Hence a blind person can legally enter into contract. Before his signature a notation stating that the contents of the contract were read over and explained to him.
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 10 March 2014

A blind person is not barred from entering in to a contract. As a matter of precaution, a relative or friend of the blind person can be made witness, who should write in his own hands that, the person being a blind, terms & conditions of the contract has been read over and explained to the person, who agreed to that and signed the agreement deed in his presence.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 11 March 2014
A blind person can enter into a contract until he is not insane. I agree with the experts views thereon .
