(Querist) 16 April 2015 This query is : Resolved
dear ma'm/sir,iam yashwanth.my mother has a xerox caste certificate where it is written "EDIGA"- BC'B' in 1978.i dont have any of my father certificates to which caste he belongs to.Now do i have provision to claim OBC category based on my mother's xerox certificate?if i should claim what should i do to claim it legally or under which legal order is it possible?
Advocate Ravinder (Expert) 17 April 2015
If you are BC-B, it does not mean you have right to apply for OBC. Your caste should be noted in the central list of Back ward Classes. Then only you can claim OBC Certificate. Check up in the local Tehsil Office, whether your caste is mentioned in the central list or not. If it is present, apply for OBC certificate in the same Tehsil office by attaching the xerox caste certificate.

Certificate is issued on the basis of caste of father and not on the basis of mothers caste.
Dr J C Vashista (Expert) 18 April 2015
I agree with expert advise of Mr. Rajendra K Goyal, father's (not mother's) caste will decide to grant or deny the benefit of reservation to you.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 25 April 2015
You can make an enquiry in the local revenue department/tahsildar office and clarify the details.
