I am giving the exact picture about the incident happened last night.
I work in an MNC at Chennai. Last night I finished my shift by 10pm and was on the way to drop my female colleague at her home. We reached her home before 11pm. Since she had some family problem at home. I was not able to drop her exactly at the door steps. So i decided to stop my car a 50m ahead from her house. Since we work together we started having a normal discussion inside the car before we both could sign off for the day. Since the area had lesser lights I managed to switch the parking lights of the car. We had some some 10 mins chat and fate was in such a way that there were 2 law and order constables on rolls for night patrol. They stopped their bike and asked us wat we were doing. We both answered in a polite way. I also explained the cops, that just bcoz the area is dark i switched on the car parking lights so that we are visible inside the car so that no doubts can be arised. Then they started askin our address and phone nos. My colleague she was afraid that they were asking her parents phone no. Then i spoke to the cops and made them understand the situation. Then finally they took my address and the car no in a notepad they had, leaving out my female colleagues details. They asked me to give 500rs as fine.. i kept justifying why shud i pay the money when we didnt commit any minor crime. When i denied to give the money they went and asked my female colleagues address again. I didnt have any other option than paying 250rs which i had n my pocket.
My query here is ... they took my address and car no in a notepad. Will it be a problem for me in the future. Please advise... i have not gone through a situation lik this before.. i am breaking my head very badly . I even asked the cops the same question. They promised that there would not be a problem.. it is just for records. Even the cops know that we were talking inside the car. Thts why the behaved decently.
Please help me on this.

you had infact displayed a suspicious conduct and it was a boon for these cops.
they keep searching for suspicious persons like you and extract bribe. you are now breaking the head instead of forgetting the matter.
there are so many questions:-
(i) why MNC is not giving her drop?
(ii) if she was having problem still what was justification for not stopping at doorsteps and not leaving immediately?
(iii) what problem you were solving (or enhancing) by this conduct?
(iv) if her family is so suspicious on shift working and late hours why she does not find another job.

Next time caught in such situation do not bribe the cops and both offer to be arrested.

The cops have done their duty,nothing wrong.Its UR duty to provide UR identity when U were intercepted at odd hours.Taking into account the activities of anti social elements,they have acted according to law.But have they provided a receipt for the amount paid by U?

@Sudhir, Sir I did not bribe them.. they said we are taking this As petty case and pay the fine 500rs.
Answering to yur questions
1. Mnc does provide drop facility since it was a shift extension and her house is on the way to my home I said i ll drop her.
2.I don knw the exact problem what she has at home. But when i said that i will drop her at door steps she denied... saying it will be a problem.
3. I was explainin the cops saying that we just arrived and was having a chit chat. Thts why i even switched on the car lights so that we are visible.
4. I am not sure about her family issues.

Id as well.
They did not provide any chellan. They said we are taking it as petty case and pay fine. And they left...

I havent gone through a situation lik this... this is the first time... i thought of helpin my co worker and got into such An incident which was unwanted. I am nervous and I keepin thinking every second. Please advise...

Well, I am not going into the details of why U had to drop her etc.Now that they have not given a challan better forget the episode.If they had given a challan then it becomes an official crime committed.Mr.Sudheerji is correct in asking questions,that is only to arrive at a correct solution.hence U need not feel about it.

Whether it is shift extension or what. MNC is bound to provide transport.
How can you say that money given by you was not bribe.
My dear it was you who was seen in a car alone with a female, just 50 meters from her home at thick of night.
even if you wanted to drop her there was no cogent justification to be in this situation.
The cops found unearned 250 bribe from you and omitted to take you both to Police Station.
