Party can proceed with his case in person.
Inform the court accordingly.
When you do not aware of basic information, it is advised to continue assistance of lawyer.

Every person has the right to pursue his cases in person. The steps involved depends upon the Court concerned and the officials concerned. Generally, High Courts and Tribunals offer a helping hand to persons appearing in person.

Party in person.
Certainly it is better to defend thru lawyer as everyone may not be well versed with legalities.

INTROSPECT ON THIS:
1. Once a lawyer has been engaged and Vakalatnama is filed on record of the Court, the party is "barred" in appearing "in person", to the exception of after taking specific temporary permission of the court, which is granted in exceptional cases, at the discretion of the magistrate /judge.
2. Move application to dis-engage the presently appointed lawyer with his written "no objection" declaration and "ONLY" seek permission to appear "in person"

Just oral submission before the Court for disengaging the advocate is adequate to proceed as party (plaintiff/petitioner)in-person, it is legally valid.

Better do Not take hasty decision. You could Narrate what ever you wish to say while Recording your Oral evidence and give all the assistance required to your Advocate while he Cross Examines the Other Side. Then the Procedures would be smooth and Fine.Other wise while there is need to file other Petitions Etc in Court you would be helpless. It is up to you to Decide.

Certainly it is better to defend thru lawyer as everyone may not be well versed with legalities.
If you are confident you may proceed to appear as PIP.
