Rs 20 Stamp paper

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 08 January 2011 This query is : Resolved
Sir/Madam,
Iam residing in chennai suburban.I have given a Blank & Signed stamp paper of Rs 20 to a banker for a bank locker service agreement. The banker said that he is taking this blank(he would fill it later)signed stamppaper from me in lieu of a Rs 20 stamp that needs to be affixed for this agreement as it would not be easily available here. Though I had little hesitation in giving him a signed blank stamp paper, I gave him in faith.
Now, In a worst case scenario, what is the maximum implications this could have on me.
What would be the monetory limitations for a Rs20 stamp paper. Also please let me know the various legally valid usage for this Rs 20 stamp paper.

Thanks in advance.

You should send the Banker a written letter through registered post and in said written letter it should be mentioned that an unwritten stamp-paper of Rs. 20, in which you had given your signatures for taking a Bank's Locker, has been handed over to Banker on Banker's demand. After sending this aforesaid letter, you are safe.

You can ask for the copy of the locker agreement.

Generally Bank official asked stamp paper for indemnity agreement. I am also supporting the suggestion given by Expert. Ajay.Bansal.

the purpose of stamp paper is normally mentioned at the time of its issue. Incase it is there you need not worry much. Write a letter to bank seeking copy of application and annexures thereto and also mention that you have given a blank stamp paper of Rs. 20/-. Normally banks do take it as part of application process in the form of Stamp Fee.

I am in agreement of Mr. Ramachandran. After a span of considerable period, any action shall be treated as after thought action.

dont sign any blank papers. Demand the status of the blank stamp paper, signed by you.

I agree with all experts.
