Building totally new mosque or temple

In our area in Mumbai we have seen some religious temple/ mosque been build up which is totally new and going to affect the balance of local population. Is it legal to build such new thing. If no can anyone take action against them.

1) in case you have any doubts as to the legality of the construction you can in case your aware of the survey no of the plot file an RTI application to find the status whether all permissions have been given for construction
2)if you are of the view that it has been built encroaching on public property you can file complaint with your local ward officer and also lodge a complaint with local police station

You can contact the BMC to check, if they have permitted construction.
