Dear members,
Thank you all for the portal.
One of my colleague received an email which was regarding his financial dues. The email read that they have sent arbitration and even impound of passport. But the email did not have any specific information related to the financial dues such as credit card number or loan number. It was just stating that the case shall be filed. I read the email myself and it was true. It only had the contact number of the advocate and he had asked my colleague to contact to amicably settle things outside court. All our friends just left it and paid no attention.
Today again he received another email with the "same email content" but with different email address and phone number.
Now our colleague is really confused and confused. How could he check if the person who sent email is genuine advocate or not? We suggested him not to respond to the email and it might be fake. Because one of our friend told that banks write off the defaulters due after a period of time and few people inside share details of such defaulters with collection agencies and do such activities under the table. Is this all true? All of us are confused.
He is one of the most humorous person in our batch and we find it difficult to see him all the time with long face. I'll pass on any ideas that you experts give us.
Thank you once again.

as expert states check it out and also find out the Ip address of the sender and find the sender address and to whom it belongs to. this can clearify your entire doubts. but i thnk it is fake email because still the process of sending you the notice is not correct.

since there is a phone number in the mail, what is the harm in calling him and verify the details?
It is better to call from a public phone and not from your personal phone/mobile.

Yes. Am agree with experts. You have contact number.. Just call to that person and meet him. If he is concern person mean proceed further. Otherwise you can ask help from your local police.

"duplication is by server"...."but triplication by.....? ". Prabhakarji nice indeed !
Anyhow, the present query appears to be well drawn imaginary one. If the colleague of "Anonymous" received any email regarding "FINANCIL DUES",as made out, one wonders as to why the person concerned cannot verify himself as to whether he has in fact any financial dues payable to any Bank or other institution or not. If not, it is a clear case of fradulent/scam mail which he has to ignore rather than getting confused as stated. These days, such scam mails are not unknown to anyone. However, if the person concerned has really any financial dues payable to anyone, then it is a matter seriously to be addressed by him rather than showing confusion about the same. He must immediately get in touch with the Financial institution/Bank concerned or their Advocate for further details and needful steps. However, if the contents of the query are really true, prima facie, I am convinced that it is only SCAM fraud mail, worth to be ignored.

Thank you all for the time and responses. Our colleague reviewed the responses and is convinced that this might be a scam. What is the proper method that should be practiced by an advocate to send notices and how should we respond to this and resolve? Any light on this would greatly help us and the readers also.
Thanks again for the time and reading. Good day.
