we are having a dispute over property and are thinking of filing a law suit. Whats the cost of filing a law suit in india

The Cost of filing suit(Court fees) would be calculated on valuation of property. Court fees is differ from state to state. In up around 8.75% is court fees.

Much depends on for what relief the suit shall be brought.For declaratory suits it would be charged advolerum on market value on date of suit.If it is agricultural land valuation is made 30 times of rent payable.

as far as advocate fees are concernt,there are no standard of minimum maximum fees.

it differs from person to person as well as the total market value of the property too.

anyhow before engaging anyone,ask their fees in advance.

the area, city, state, lawyer, his experience(senior,junior), litigation court(taluk level to highcourt) the paying capacity of the party will play an important role in deciding the fees. better consult yourself
