if you have returned the money before the trail is completed it proves your bonafides . the court will take a lenient view . if the complainant is agreebale he can seek permission to withdraw the case as full cheque amount has been paid

It is compoundable offence. However payment alone doesnot make it compoundable.

The maximum punishment is six months.

it can be expected that in your particular circumstances of your case the court may not convict you with sentence of jail.

The maximum punishment is not six months.It is 24 months after 2002 before that it was 12 months. The Court may order to pay compensation for the financial loss suffered by the Complainant and may pass sentence till rising of the Court.
