You can file a Suit for Declaration and Injunction in Civil Court where at property is situated, this is the best option for settle the matter with landlord as because the process is lengthy to evict you by the landlord from the rented house.Immediate contact with a civil lawyer.

You are a tenant , so you have no right of ownership.
If you have no means to buy it then you have to vacate the same. The provisions of law does not make any space fr you to claim it.
However you are entitled to its lawful possession till you are lawfully evicted by the landlord. If any force is used to evict you by extra judicial means you can go to court for restraint order.

refuse to vacate . let the landlord file suit for eviction . he will have to file suit to evict you . merely because he wants to sell the building is no ground for eeviction . there must ebb other tenants in said building . go and meet them and put a united front against the landlord .

The approach of courts in dealing such matters has entirely changed now. A landlord can get eviction of his rented property by way of foce of court in case he is in need of his property and it is the landlord which has only to establish his need and tenant has very little say in such matters so better to settle the matter with mutual consultation otherwise if landlord go to court then definitely sooner or later, you shall have to vacate the rented house even without charging a single penny from landlord.
