YES , respondent CAN ASK ALL THESE IN " INTERROGATORIES" UNDER ORDER XI RULE 9 OF CIVIL PROCEDURE CODE, AND OPP PARTY IS BOUND TO REPLY WITH ALL DOCUMENTARY PROOF like PERMANENT ACCOUNT NUMBER OR INCOME TAX DETAILS .

It appears now experts have started to reply academic queries.
To my knowledge I.T. returns are privileged documents and would not be ordered to be furnished unless facts of the case demands to do so and even in that case court shall not make it public but shall look into on its' OWN for the case.
