Tenants rights in delhi

(Querist) 09 January 2013 This query is : Resolved
Hi,

I'm renting a society flat in New Delhi. I've a court agreement with my Landlord for 12 months & I've shifted last month. This month I received my first electricity bill which society has prepared & they're charging me Rs.6.10 per unit. There is no such clause in my agreement that society would charge me this amount. There's is only one liner about electricity bill which states that i've to pay the electricity bill to the society.

My query is can society like this charge me without notifying me? Am I liable to pay this amount? What should i do?

you will have to find, what rules have been adopted by the society in this regard.

visit the society office and find out the reasons for higher rate.

in case of any illegality, approach the appropriate forum.

As the clause of the electricity payment exists in your agreement and thus you are liable to pay the same though you have every legal right to know the process of computing the charges.
