Amount recovered for alimony-court attachment

D/Law Experts,
Rs. 8000/- are being deducted from monthly salary as a court attachment.The amount is deducted by my accounts branch and deposited in her bank account.I have to pay about Rs.2000/- as an income tax on this amount.
Is this maintenance amount is exempted from income tax?

income tax would be on your total income . maintenance paid to your wife out of your income has no co relation with tax .

No such deduction available as thought of.

Such amount is also taxable as there is no separate head in income tax act for this purpose.
