How to obtain marriage certificate from other than place of marriage

Dear Sir,
I have been staying in Mumbai since 1984. But got married in June,1999 in Andhra Pradesh.
As per Hindu Marriage Act, 1955:-
Parties to the marriage have to apply to the Registrar in whose jurisdiction the marriage is solemnized or to the Registrar in whose jurisdiction either party to the marriage has been residing for at least six months immediately preceding the date of marriage.
Since I was staying in Mumbai continuously from 1984(prior to marriage), whether I can apply for marriage certificate in Mumbai(BMC offices)itself instead of Andhra Pradesh.
Kindly guide & help me,please.

your marriage has been solemnized in AP. it is advisable to have it registered in AP .

Dear Sir,
Since I have been staying in Mumbai prior to my marriage in Andhra Pradesh and now settled permanently in Mumbai, I wanted to get from Mumbai. But whether I am eligible to apply in Mumbai.
Please clarify.

Respected Devajyoti Barman Sir,
OK. that means I can apply to respective BMC office in Mumbai and will get the marriage certificate from Mumbai only.
Can you please provide me more details about the procedure to get it from BMC offices,Mumbai.

Contact the local Marriage Registration office. They would inform all the formalities required to be done.
