(Querist) 19 February 2014 This query is : Resolved
Hello,

My name is Ritwik Saha and I have completed LLB 1st semester exam. Please guide me as to how to go about being a lawyer and opening a legal firm? I am 37 years of age and I was working in MNC's before, but I have decided to be a lawyer.

Law form may be proprietary concern or a partnership firm or even LLP.

Agree with the expert.

You are 37 years of age and have completed Ist semester exams. When did you took admission.

For doing 5 years LLB course after 12th standard, candidate must not exceed 20 years of age. A candidate seeking admission in 3 years LLB course after his/her graduation, must not exceed 30 years of age. However some age relaxation has been given to SC and ST candidates. OBC candidates are also taken with general category with no age relaxation.

If you have crossed this age while taking admission it would be difficult to get enrolled with Bar Council till the Court or BCI decides otherwise.

You are true Mr. Goyal, but according to an amendment by the Honbl. high court, u can do llb after 30 now and there is no age bar as it used to be before.

Which High Court has ruled as mentioned by you, please inform.

Few colleges are giving admission for higher age group students. Any amendment from Bar Council of India in this regard is not in our knowledge.

As per my information Supreme Court has stayed all further proceedings in 12 High Courts on petitions challenging the Bar Council of India Rule fixing upper age limit for admission to LLB.
