Hi, I and my childhood friend wanted to get married but his parents opposed (I am muslim and he is hindu) and got him married to a girl under emotional pressure very hurriedly... After his marriage, we just remained friends but he was not in good terms with his wife due to their internal mismatch... the girl got him into police for false charge of hitting, misbehaving, and extra marital (which is not true)... she went to her parents within 6months of marriage and now harassing him by sending police and legal papers (as her brother is constable). She clearly said in police station that she is unwilling to continue the marriage but will divorce if given some huge money. which my friend cant afford.
They are harassing him a lot and he had to run for all charges on him: Dowry, harassment by both him and his parents, attempt to suicide, adultery, just everything any women can put on a man.\
Also, I would like to add here that now my friend wants to marry me by converting into muslim. Please advice is that possible under so much controversies?
Please advice for my friend what he can do now?

Your friend until and unless divorces his wife, he can not marry you.
The divorce through court contest takes years together and hence going for mutual divorce is best option.
Else you have to show great patience till he becomes free, if at all, to marry you.

Sir, thanks for advice. But primarily please tell me how he can respond to allegations on him... now they want to arrest him on dowry charges and as its vacation time, his bail pleas are not heard in court as judge is on leave... strangely, his lawyer asked him to leave the station and go away to some other city.
what shall he do now and how can he get rid of such problems created by his brother in law...
Also please tell is there no limit for any woman to ask for money as maintainance for divorcing????
If he cant give so much money, he will always be hooked up to her and will be harassed lifelong????

if case is started against him, then he should first seek bail and then fight the case on merit.
There is no time limit for filing matrimonial related cases and placing demands thereto.

Let the lawyer proceed for anticipatory bail. No alternate but to defend the cases against him at present.
