Caste correction in school college

(Querist) 13 May 2014 This query is : Resolved
I am from Bangalore. I have completed my degree. Few days before i saw my dad's TC and came to know there is a difference in the caste mentioned in my school documents and his. In my school documents it is mentioned as 'nayanaja kshathriya'and in my dad's TC it is 'bajanthri'. Both belong to category 2A in reservation.

Now i would like correct it as per my dad's TC. But i have taken reservation in degree based on 'nayanaja kshathriya'.

Will it be a problem. Please help me regarding this.

We belong to bajanthri. When I was in school my uncle had said both the castes mean the same so my dad gave caste as 'nayanaja kshathriya' in school admission details.

This may create a problem if you avail of the reservation benefits applicable to the present caste to which you do not belong in he government employment issues and other government benevolent schemes reserved for this category of people. If it is possible, you may try to rectify this error now itself before it is too late, approach the local Tehsildar office/Revenue department, obtain a community certificate on the basis of the community to which your father belongs, and on the basis the said certificate, you may approach the education a department for correction of your community in the school records. You have to make a continuous and strenuous effort to get your job done.

Both caste 'bajanthri' and 'nayanaja kshathriya' has equal status in government rules. Both castes belong to category 2A.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 16 May 2014
Though both are similar and are having equal status, when the problem arises, it will be considered as two different items since both the castes have different names. Think about it.
