How the land came in the name of your grandfather?
Who, how purchased the land and when?
Unregistered family settlement / partition may not be acceptable legally.
Registered gift deed is legally acceptable.
Show all documents to local lawyer and may file partition of total property which was not included in gift deed, in case of merits exist.
