Bar Councils are established under the Advocates Act, 1961 for regulating the legal profession. A Bar Council can certainly help in case an advocate commits acts of professional misconduct by cheating his client.

You can file a complaint before the Bar Council where you advocate had registered himself. There are formalities to be complied with along with a fees. On receiving your complaint the bar council if necessary will send notice to the Advocate. If your allegations are proved, the Bar council will take appropriate action as per the Act.

Power of Bar council is more than Medical Council. An advocate fears none except Bar Council. But if you misuse it as a tool to take vengeance then you would be in great difficulty because on the call of Bar Council the fourth pillar of democracy can become defunct. So tread cautiously.
