Dear Ganesh,

You can institute a criminal case for negligence on the electricity deptt and the concerned officers who are incharge of the division where the mishap occured, you can also can compensation. What are the facts of the case?
K.C.Suresh (Expert) 25 May 2009
The incident attracts criminal negligence of Electricity authorities. The victims legal hiers can cvlaim compensation in a civil court
Swami Sadashiva Brahmendra Sar (Expert) 25 May 2009
My fiends are right. however a writ petition for compensation can be filed before high court.this will be more expeditious remedy.
Guest (Expert) 25 May 2009
The Writ case for compensation case will lie before the High Court making the electricity department and the state Government as party. It is quicker and cheaper remedy for the reason that you have to pay only Rs.50/- as court fee. If the incident has happened in Delhi, you can avail oour free legal aid in Delhi High court.

Other remedy is to file a civil suit for damages/compensation and the court fee is very high and depends upon the compensation you seek.
