Bogus charge of disruption of communal harmony

(Querist) 01 December 2012 This query is : Resolved
Renowned 82 year old historian Sri:M ChidanandaMurthy decried (press conf.),the announcement by Rehman Khan (central Minister)of establishing a Tippu Sultan University atSrirangapattinam.with 50%reservationion for Muslims. He stated that Tippu was one of the most cruel despots the country has seen and massacred thousands of Hindus especially Nairs of Kerala.I am 67 year old and havestudied in the history books in the 40s and 50s confirming the same .He has given elaborate evidences to prove thatTippu a fanatic, hated not only Hindus but set aside Kannada and encouraged Persian .One can even see today inscribed on the main door of the mosque at srirangpatna (which was a temple earlier)that no stone should be left unturned to destroy all Kafirs. There are other evidences available. The Police have filed a case against Sri: Murthy based on a complaintby muslim member of Tippu Sultan samyukta ranga. Can Court set aside Truth just to satisfy a community and to maintain so-called communal harmony and punish Murthy?

Whether tie of false no one has any right to public denigrate any historical figure with reverence in the locality with such strong words which may excite member of any community.
This is not a question of satisfying a community but to apply the rule of law.

I believe history is "his story" of the author of the book, which often contains biases and prejudices of the individual authors also. So, different versions of histry books can be seen with different biases of different authors. The truth is that which is seen by some one with his own eyes and heard by his own ears. Sometimes, even that proves partial. With due respect to the onctogenarian historian, Sri:M ChidanandaMurthy, my views are that he should have avoided any such remark, if he had not seen any such hearsay evidence with his own eyes, as that could not have been possible for him to prove as Tipu Sultan had died (4 May 1799) even more than 120 years prior to the birth of the historian.

I fully agree with the advice of Dhingra G as he has touched every asoect of the query
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 01 December 2012
II have to agree with Mr Burman and Mr Dhingra. Some religious believes will prove false if tested on the scales of history like any policeman. That does not mean that such evidences need to be pressed in public.
