Agriculture property in himachal

Sir,
My father in law want to gift a agriculture land in Himachal which he owns to my wife his daughter. He is a resident of Himachal but we i.e. my me and my wife are r/o Punjab.
What is the procedure and will we be able to register the same in our name as we have come to know that outsiders can not purchase land in Himachal.

since your father in law has not yet purchased any agricultural land let him first purchase the same . since he is a resident of Himachal Pradesh he can purchase the same . he can make a will bequeathing the said land to his daughter .

Your father in law after purchase of land in your name, can during his life time gift in your oe your's wife name as per his desire. There is no restriction of gifting the agricultural land in HP.

All or any of the options suggested would depend upon the land law applicable in state of Himachal pradesh.
Better idea may come from revenue lawyer from Himachal pradesh.

Your father can purchase the land and either gift or make a will in the name of his daughter (your wife). For procedural guidance contact a local lawyer who can guide in reference to the land laws of the state.
