Divorce

(Querist) 14 October 2016 This query is : Resolved
My sister is having a view that she should file a divorce as her husband is an alcoholic and has stopped earning and is daily physically and mentally harassing her. Her husband is very baldy addicted to alcohol and is not taking care of the family financially. They have two daughters and my sister is now unable to afford the expenses of their education because her husband has stopped working. My request is to provide your expert advice on this matter.

If your sister was Not having children I would have Directly advised you to to apply for Divorce. In the Interest of children he should be Treated by an Expertised Senior Doctor of your Place.Alcoholism is almost a Disease more than bad habit. Please Try for his Treatment First.Ofcourse it may be a Tough Job for you but for the welfare of your sister and her children you shoul do that. There are good treatment given in Govt Mental Hospitals also for this that too with Admissions which will Not be Expensive for you.Approach them.

We have tried all medical treatments, we have recently consulted a psychiatrist, but failed. Every doctor says that medical can help upto 70 to 80% rest should be the patient's own will. My sister and her daughters have fed up with this man's alcoholism. Please advise what would be the best way to deal this situation.

First see the possibilities as advised Expert Mr. Rajkumar alias Narasimha ji. take all possible steps to give medical treatment to your BIL. if all the efforts are in vain, then file a petition in a court of law by consulting an experienced counsel who is dealing with these type of cases. best of luck.

Mam,

She can file if she has concrete proof to show before the court that she is being harassed, merely alleging will not help.

Warm Regards

Your sister should try to start living separately, should search job for her and try to be self dependent. Your family can help her in the matter.

After being self dependent she can proceed for divorce if her husband does not mend.
