False statement

Dear Expert,

i am working with a PSU Bank. My father in law alligated on me that he came to know that i have already started altering records to disapprove her daughter as wife legally. while i have not done any alteration in any form. now my question is:-

what all are the documents based on which i can do so legally?

can i file case of defamation against him because he informed it at my official level by writing a letter there?
