Dear Experts,
Is FIR is a Public Document?
Can a third person (Neither the Complainant nor the Accused ) approach the Station House Officer (SHO) for FIR Copy under the Right to Information Act?

Dear experts ,
One of my friends filed a complaint against a person and SHO issued a FIR but FIR copy did not given by the SHO to my friend .hence wants to have the same by filing a petition to the SHO/Public information Officer under the Right to information act.is it possible to have the same? hence my request is whether FIR said to be a public document for the above purpose.Thanq experts.

Yes your freind can get the copy of the FIR through RTI.
