Sir General Diary Entires of Police Station comes under PUBLIC DOCUMENT?

Sir i heard that PUBLIC DOCUMENT need not be proved by calling concerned officer to prove its contents.Is it correct Sir?

If so please provide me SC citation, which is necessary for filing in my case.

I have to file Police General Diary Entry in my case.

1. Yes. Anything that a public officer is obliged to keep a record of as per the law, is a public docuemnt.

2. Yes, A certified copy would do, there is a presumption of genuinity of such copy, and it is for the opposite party to rebut.
