Giving permanent & present address as same in the personalised while applying for Passport

My daughter in law applied for passport. In Personalize form permanent and present address were given as same as per advise of the agent. My son is working in Gurgaon in Private Co.. Agent told them to fill the same permanent and present address. OnPost police verification it was informed by the SSP office to PPoffice that applicant is not residing at the present address.A letter from PP office has been recd to explain. Now what to do. Kindly advise.The same mistake was made in My son's PP application form . But the application was closed for applying new PP at the present address.

The agent must have been a foolish person to advise your son and daughter to give a fake permanent residential address where both were not residing. At least your son and daughter would have applied their mind that the Passport is issued after police verification and the police cann't be expected to confirm a wrong address. Needless to mention agent would not come forward to admit his fault.
Now the remedy can only be suggested by the Passport Officer. Meet him personally, apprise him about the fact and request for allowing for fresh applications on permanent address.
