Grandfathers name wrong in fathers property papers

(Querist) 08 November 2012 This query is : Resolved
My father bought property in 1998 from an individual buyer in Gurgaon however when the papers were drwan up, my grand fathers name was written wrong in the property papers. Does it have any affect when my father sells the property? if yes, how can this be changed since my father cannot move now due to old age?
Anil Kumar-Advocate (Expert) 08 November 2012
In normal course of action it does not affect because the Title Holder of the property is your father (whose name is correct)and not your Grand father . The same must have been recorded in the records of right. But considering the present state of mind of the people and future utility of that property, it would be advisable to retain one Lawyer of your place and file a correction (not rectification of Deed) of the nomenclature by filing a proper folio.Good luck!
